Last Modified

Jul 12, 2014

Products (1)

  • Cisco MDS 9000 Series Multilayer Switches

Known Affected Releases

6.2(9)S12

Description (partial)

Symptom:
If a device-alias commit fails due to the validation failure of an application such as ivr, zone, dpvm, psm, the ?show device-alias session status? would display the following error.
       switch-mds(config)# sh device-alias session status
Last Action Time Stamp : Thu Jun 26 11:45:10 2014
   Last Action : Commit
   Last Action Result : Fail
Last Action Failure Reason : device-alias(0x40bc005e)- Zone Server did not respond to validation request in time <<<<<<<<< validation failure message

Conditions:
1.	Application validation failure can be seen when the time taken by the application to validate the device-alias pending changes with the application's DB exceeds the validation timeout.

2.	Application validation failure could happen when the device-alias pending-diff is huge and/or when the application DB size is huge.
