Cisco Bug: CSCup57434 - Closing Jabber disables Lync Presence integration in Outlook 2007.

Description (partial)

Symptom:
When you have Outlook and Lync integrated for presence, Outlook relies on monitoring Lync's status via the registry key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\IM Providers\Communicator\UpAndRunning

Lync will dynamically update this value.  If Lync is running it will be updated to a 2, if it is not running it will be updated to a 0.  Outlook Monitors this value to determine if it can use Lync for presence.




The issue is that when Jabber is installed with the click to call disabled option, Lync and Outlook integration will still function.  However whenever you close Jabber down, the client updates the "UpAndRunning" value for Communicator to 0.  Thus breaking presence integration between outlook and Lync until you relaunch the Lync client (which updates the value back to 2).

Jabber should not update this registry key.

Conditions:
Jabber for Windows installed with Click To Call Disabled and Outlook 2007.
