Symptom: Main Findings: • 1 hour, 45 minutes for garbage collection to process (per GC cycle) with high amounts of sustained latency incurred • 7 hours between garbage collection cycles when write blocks are consumed during steady state testing • High application response times recorded in desktop sessions during GC periods - exceeds CVD solution standards for storage • 70 stuck sessions at various points due to excessive latency during GC periods - exceeds CVD solution standards for storage • More details provided in attachment... Conditions: As part of the XenDesktop on Invicta study, a VDI-based test using Login VSI's Light workload was conducted over a 20 hour period (aka, soak testing). The purpose of this test case was to measure the performance of the Invicta while under a significant VDI load and over an extended period of time. Another key aspect for this test was to measure the consumption rate of free write blocks along with observing garbage collection performance to determine how the system behaves under sustained use.
