Cisco Bug: CSCup49551 - Set System Time and Hardware Clock Locally on Fabric Node
Sep 16, 2018
- Cisco Nexus 9000 Series Switches
Known Affected Releases
Symptom: There needs to be the ability to set the system time and hardware clock locally on a fabric node. The bash commands 'date set' and 'hwclock --systohc' both work, but require root access. Please provide a way for a non-root user to set both the system time and hardware clock. When a switch first boots, depending on the period of time the switch was powered off, the system time may have drifted prior to fabric discovery. Depending on how much different is between fabric node and controller node, the switch node may be marked as inactive and prevent the fabric from fully converging. Not having the ability to modify the system time using admin privileges extends the time to resolve this condition. Conditions: ACI Fabric nodes where time may have drifted while being powered off. Root access currently required to modify time and date.
