Oct 21, 2014
- Cisco Nexus 7000 Series Switches
Known Affected Releases
Symptom:Chassis makes high pitch noise during normal system operation. This has been observed to be sourced from the ventilation air holes on the front panel near the Supervisor modules, with a low probability of occurrence. Conditions:This is applicable to N77-xxx and MDS97xx systems only. There is no functional impact to the system. The audible noise is highly sensitive to system hardware configuration and does not occur in most installations. Minimum-configuration systems such as those with 1x Linecard and 1xSupervisor on N7710 , N7706 and MDS9710 are more likely to exhibit the issue, with a low probability of occurrence. Multiple systems with identical hardware configuration may not exhibit the issue to the same degree. Most installs will not show any abnormality. The rate of occurrence for this issue globally is less than 0.1% of installed systems.
