  • Cisco uBR10000 Series Universal Broadband Routers

Known Affected Releases

Description (partial)

Symptom:
We are pushing traffic to the modems via IXIA, and we see the following traffic through the bundle interface as shown below:

ten01.sanjose.ca.sfb#sh int bundle 10
Bundle10 is up, line protocol is up
Hardware is Cable Virtual-bundle interface, address is 0013.5f06.f5e2 (bia 0000.0000.0000)
  Internet address is 72.1.0.1/20
MTU 1500 bytes, BW 26000 Kbit, DLY 1000 usec,
     reliability 255/255, txload 255/255, rxload 255/255
  Encapsulation MCNS, loopback not set
  Keepalive set (10 sec)
ARP type: ARPA, ARP Timeout 04:00:00
Last input 00:00:00, output never, output hang never
Last clearing of "show interface" counters never
Input queue: 0/75/0/0 (size/max/drops/flushes); Total output drops: 0
  Interface Bundle10 queueing strategy: fifo
  30 second input rate 27591000 bits/sec, 2324 packets/sec
  30 second output rate 41740000 bits/sec, 3469 packets/sec
210156300 packets input, 310719550440 bytes, 26655518 no buffer
Received 2571964 broadcasts (0 IP multicasts)
     0 runts, 0 giants, 0 throttles
     0 input errors, 0 CRC, 0 frame, 0 overrun, 0 ignored, 0 abort
     264365340 packets output, 397668650747 bytes, 0 underruns
0 output errors, 0 collisions, 0 interface resets
0 output buffer failures, 0 output buffers swapped out

However, directly after a PRE failover, we are seeing the following traffic through the bundle interface:

ten01.sanjose.ca.sfb#sh int bundle 10
Bundle10 is up, line protocol is up
Hardware is Cable Virtual-bundle interface, address is 0013.5f06.f5e2 (bia 0000.0000.0000)
  Internet address is 72.1.0.1/20
MTU 1500 bytes, BW 26000 Kbit, DLY 1000 usec,
     reliability 255/255, txload 12/255, rxload 255/255
  Encapsulation MCNS, loopback not set
  Keepalive set (10 sec)
ARP type: ARPA, ARP Timeout 04:00:00
Last input 00:00:01, output never, output hang never
Last clearing of "show interface" counters never
Input queue: 0/75/0/0 (size/max/drops/flushes); Total output drops: 0
  Interface Bundle10 queueing strategy: fifo
  30 second input rate 82728979000 bits/sec, 6994251 packets/sec
  30 second output rate 1264000 bits/sec, 105 packets/sec
210211856 packets input, 310802089429 bytes, 3094 no buffer
Received 2572412 broadcasts (0 IP multicasts)
     0 runts, 0 giants, 0 throttles
     0 input errors, 0 CRC, 0 frame, 0 overrun, 0 ignored, 0 abort
     20567 packets output, 30513777 bytes, 0
0 output errors, 0 collisions, 0 interface resets
0 output buffer failures, 0 output buffers swapped out

Conditions:
PRE5s with SCH2 (ubr10k5-k9p6u2-mz.122-33.SCH2.bin) loaded.

1) Verified the bundle interface counter display
2) Performed a CLI PRE failover
3) Checked the bundle interface counter display

During the check of the bundle interface, the displayed counters are highly erroneous to the actual traffic being passed across the bundle interface.
