Cisco Bug: CSCuo89924 - Giaddr to be set to the address of interface facing the client.

Last Modified

Jun 25, 2020

Products (1)

  • Cisco ASA 5500-X Series Firewalls

Known Affected Releases

100.13(11.14) 9.2(1)

Description (partial)

Symptom:
When the ASA relays DHCP to the DHCP server, it sources the packet with the address of the interface facing the DHCP server instead of the address facing the DHCP client (giaddr).

This fix ensures ASA behaviour is in line with IOS i.e. for DHCP unicast packets to the DHCP sever's IP, the source IP address should be the interface IP address that faces the client (giaddr) .

Conditions:
ASA relaying the DHCP traffic to DHCP Server.
