Cisco Bug: CSCuo66446 - "illegal TM parameter was passed to hardware"- should show TM parameter

Last Modified

Sep 15, 2018

Products (1)

  • Cisco ASR 9000 Series Aggregation Services Routers

Known Affected Releases

4.2.3.BASE

Description (partial)

Symptom:
While exceeding the shape average limit for a child level (4G) on a Typhoon card , we get the following error in show config failed:

!!% 'Typhoon QOSHAL' detected the 'warning' condition 'Internal error - An illegal TM parameter was passed to hardware'

We should get the illegal parameter in detail.

On Trident ( A9K-2T20GE-L ), we get more clarity:

interface TenGigE0/1/0/1.1
 service-policy output parent

!!% 'prm_ezhal' detected the 'warning' condition 'Cannot support child/flat shape rate > 128Mbps'

Conditions:
policy-map TEST
 class class-default
  shape average percent 90
 !
 end-policy-map

A9K-MPA-20X1GE : Typhoon

interface TenGigE0/1/0/4.2
 service-policy output TEST
!!% 'Typhoon QOSHAL' detected the 'warning' condition 'Internal error - An illegal TM parameter was passed to hardware'

On the other hand, using Trident gives us more description on the error:

A9K-2T20GE-L

interface TenGigE0/1/0/1.1
 service-policy output TEST
!!% 'prm_ezhal' detected the 'warning' condition 'Cannot support child/flat shape rate > 128Mbps'
