Cisco Bug: CSCuo46577 - port-monitor treats ports connected to NPV switches as port-type access

Last Modified

May 16, 2017

Products (1)

  • Cisco MDS 9000 Series Multilayer Switches

Known Affected Releases

5.2(8d)

Description (partial)

Symptom:
Port-monitor treats ports connected to NPV switches as port-type access. This would cause any portguard action to affect all the devices logged into through that port. This may hinder implementation of portguard. Ports connected
to NPV switches that carry multiple loggins should be treated differently by port-monitor than simple access ports.

Conditions:
Applies to the following conditions:
1) port-monitor is active with a port-type all or access
2) feature npiv is configured
3) There are ports connected to NPV switches that carry multiple logins (FLOGIs)
