Last Modified

Feb 19, 2018

Products (1)

  • Cisco MDS 9000 Series Multilayer Switches

Known Affected Releases

6.2(7)S48 6.2(8)S35 6.2(9)FM(0.52)

Description (partial)

Symptom:
While running Enhanced Zoning if you attempt to add zones, issue a zoneset activation and a zone committal and you exceed the 6.2(7) 4MB Zone DB limit you may see the following error message on the Console and for the Status from the show zone status vsan x output.

FC2 Sequence size exceeded

As a preventative measure you could verify you are not near the 4MB maximum Zone DB size by issueing a
"show zone status vsan x" and add both the Full Zoneset and Active Zoneset DB's sizes together to ensure you are not near the maximum.

Conditions:
You need to exceed the 4MB Zone DB size which is comprised of both the Full Zoneset + Active Zoneset DB's combinded.

Note that the 4MB limit is measured in bytes so the maximum is actually 4,194,304 Bytes.
