Symptom:
IPS Sig auto-updates may fail with the following diagnostics:

    =   Read directory: https://www.cisco.com//cgi-bin/front.x/ida/locator/locator.pl
    =   Error: AutoUpdate exception: openConnection: Caught IpAddrException badAddrString.  Unable to use the DNS settings for AutoUpdate.Verify DNS server IP or IP in cisco-url (if configured) and try again.

Conditions:
This can happen in IPS software 7.2 and later, which uses www.cisco.com URL in auto-update configuration. The issue is caused by nscd Linux daemon not running on the IPS.
