Cisco Bug: CSCuo23892 - ASA SIP Inspect:'From: header' in the INVITE not NATed for outbound flow

Last Modified

Products (1)

  • Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) Software

Known Affected Releases

9.1(5)

Description (partial)

Symptom:
When ASA is doing NAT and SIP Inspection :'From: header' in the INVITE is not NATed for outbound flow.

According to current ASA SIP inspection implementation
"For an inbound request and an outbound response, we do not NAT "From' header. But, for an outbound request and an inbound response, we do have to NAT "From" header"

Taken into consideration the above statement, the ASA should normally NAT the 'From' header of the SIP invite message for outbound traffic (high-to-low security level), but it is not. Thus the SIP traffic can be dropped in the path towards the destination.

Conditions:
ASA does SIP inspection and NAT for SIP traffic
Traffic is 'outbound' (high to low security level)
