Cisco Bug: CSCuo03024 - Config migration on 8.0 upgrade, results in disk related lags

Last Modified

Jan 27, 2017

Products (1)

  • Cisco Web Security Appliance

Known Affected Releases

8.0.5-075

Description (partial)

Symptom:
After upgrading, you may experience heavy lags caused by increased disk load.

Conditions:
If the WSA was running with increased update interval time, to reduce lags, that config change was lost on upgrade. We now have 2 update settings, under updateconfig. If you were running with 6 hour update intervals, after upgrade you will have:

Update interval for Web Reputation and Categorization: 5m
Update interval for all other services: 6h

That is completely backwards, the "Web Reputation and Categorization" updates are the ones that cause excessive disk usage, and you would want to reconfigure Web Reputation for 6 hours. You want "interval for all other services" set to 5m, to get your AV updates in a timely fashion.
