Cisco Bug: CSCun49284 - Feature Request: Ability to add private IP ranges to a URL List

Last Modified

Nov 12, 2016

Products (1)

  • Cisco Email Security Appliance

Known Affected Releases

8.5.0-473

Description (partial)

Symptom:
Private IP addresses are not routable outside that network. Being that URL rewriting can be enabled, and private IP addresses are categorized as 'Uncategorized URLs' the ESA will rewrite the URL if enabled for that category. Since the proxy will not be able to route the traffic, rewriting the URL consumes CPU that can be best used elsewhere. It would be more efficient to add the whole subnet as a single entry instead of making entries for every potential URL on the private IP subnet.

Conditions:
ESA running AsyncOS 8.5.5 or later that is utilizing the AMP malware detection feature
