Cisco Bug: CSCun45558 - CSC: Updates fail citing unable to copy libvsapi.so (Virus scan engine)

Last Modified

Nov 08, 2016

Products (1)

  • Cisco ASA 5500-X Series Firewalls

Known Affected Releases

6.6(1125.0)

Description (partial)

Symptom:
Some customers may hit the following update error after re-imaging the CSC module and applying any patch up to Patch 1145:

CSC SSM update status for host csc-ssm (10.0.0.200): FAILED
AntiVirusEngine : Virus scan engine 9.75.1005 was successfully downloaded and installed.
Unable to backup file /opt/trend/isvw/lib/libvsapi.so. You need to manually copy file /opt/trend/isvw/temp/AU/libvsapi.so to path /opt/trend/isvw/lib.

This error is caused by the fact that the updater process will not 'update' the libvsapi.so (virus scan engine) file if there is no pre-existing backup of the file.

Conditions:
This is seen on CSC Module installation where a re-image process was done to revert back to 6.6.1125.0 after February 15th or any other CSC installation where the backup file for the libvsapi.so binary is not present.
