Description (partial)

Symptom:
After BGP session is established, there will be a variable delay (45 seconds plus) before BGP updates from peer are installed into RIB and BGP update is sent to peer. This is seen only when peering with a neighboring Arista device.

Conditions:
This is seen only when peering with an Arista device as Arista device is not GR capable, and hence the delay.

Checking BGP internal logs (sh bgp internal event-history events | grep -i startup) will show the following messages with some time delta, which is equivalent to how long it takes for us to process/send updates.

  Completed startup processing
  Processed startup configuration
