Cisco Bug: CSCum63662 - BGP process crash due to an invalid nexthop access

Last Modified

Jan 10, 2017

Products (1)

  • Cisco Carrier Routing System

Known Affected Releases

4.1.2.ROUT

Description (partial)

Symptom:
IBGP process crash due to invalid path information (since the path was freed) while processing paths belonging to vpnv4 unicast prefix 152.164.2.156/30 in Local RD 13979:301714 (vrf 13979:24475)
The prefix has 3 paths:
Path1 from CE, - the bestpath
Path2 from RR imported from remote RD 13979 : 15129, selected as backup
Path3 from the same RR imported from remote RD 13979 : 15129, selected as backup

However Path3 from RR was deleted and stale, but was not cleaned up correctly, and this is causing the crash.

Further, we noticed that the original source path in RD 13979 : 151291 is not present. So, it means that the RR has withdrawn all paths for this prefix, and the paths imported into VRF were not yet deleted or they were deleted incompletely

Conditions:
BGP running on GSR/C12k with 4.1.2 image
