Description (partial)

Diagnostic Signatures (DS) provide a capability to define a regular expression and store the matching values within parenthesis in a DS variable. An event can be triggered if the variable is greater than / less than / equal to a given value by using comparison operators.

Currently, this comparison works only for numeric values and not for string values. There are a number of scenarios like DSP states, voice-port states where we need to compare the DS variables to a string.

For example, the following line that defines a comparison of DS variable value with a string "clear_backward" will not return the correct result :
<ds:RegexpVar Operator="eq" Value="clear_backward">ds_voice_port_state</ds:RegexpVar>
