Cisco Bug: CSCum40614 - Standby switch falls to RPR after failed ISSU.

Last Modified

Jul 10, 2018

Products (1)

  • Cisco Catalyst 4000 Series Switches

Known Affected Releases

15.1(2)SG

Description (partial)

Symptom:
When performing an In-Service Software Upgrade (ISSU), the standby supervisor engine in a C4500 switch may enter the RPR Redundancy mode unexpectedly during the ISSU process.
Attempting to roll back the process will result in the standby supervisor engine remaining stuck in the RPR Redundancy state until the system is fully reloaded.
If the system is a VSS pair, the standby switch in the pair will enter a boot loop, as RPR Redundancy mode is NOT supported with VSS.

Conditions:
The configuration "snmp-server enable traps dot1x" must be configured to encounter this bug. Variants of this configuration will also trigger the issue.
An ISSU from an affected IOS-XE release to any other IOS-XE release must be triggered to encounter this bug.
Bug details contain sensitive information and therefore require a Cisco.com account to be viewed.
