Cisco Bug: CSCum20863 - Client Association Failure: wrong AP mac address in syslog

Last Modified

Jul 01, 2016

Products (1)

  • Cisco 5500 Series Wireless Controllers

Known Affected Releases

7.4(110.0)

Description (partial)

Symptom:
Client Association Failure: MACAddress:<client mac> Base Radio MAC:<actual WLC management mac address>Slot: 0 User Name:unknown IP Addr: unknown Reason:Maximum number of clients reached on the AP Radio WLAN ReasonCode: 107

This message is displayed when you configure a maximum amount of clients per AP radio and therefore appears legitimately. However the second mac address should be the AP mac address but it's the WLC management interface mac that is shown

Conditions:
WLC and SSID configured with maximum amount of clients per radio and hitting that limit.
