  • Cisco Carrier Routing System

Known Affected Releases

Description (partial)

Symptom:
Following messages continuously show up on customer ASR9K/4.2.3 router.

RP/0/RSP0/CPU0:Dec 13 13:02:22.042 : ospf[1011]: %ROUTING-OSPF-3-PATH_ID_OOR : Path-id out of range for x.x.x.x/x
RP/0/RSP0/CPU0:Dec 13 13:02:22.042 : ospf[1011]: %ROUTING-OSPF-3-PATH_ID_OOR : Path-id out of range for y.y.y.y/y
RP/0/RSP0/CPU0:Dec 13 13:02:22.578 : ospf[1011]: %ROUTING-OSPF-3-PATH_ID_OOR : Path-id out of range for x.x.x.x/x
RP/0/RSP0/CPU0:Dec 13 13:02:22.578 : ospf[1011]: %ROUTING-OSPF-3-PATH_ID_OOR : Path-id out of range for y.y.y.y/y

Conditions:
This happens on ASR9K running 4.2.3. DE is able to reproduce a path-id depletion by alternating between connected and non-connected path, which is very likely what caused the path-id depletion in this case. Due to the route in RIB is installed as 'connected' and OSPF path is only considered as backup, this issue is not traffic impacting.
