Symptom: When opening CRES or IEA encrypted envelopes which contain attachments, you may see the following Java exception reported: basic: exception: Bad applet class name. ExitException[ 3]java.lang.SecurityException: Bad applet class name at sun.plugin2.applet.Plugin2Manager.initAppletAdapter(Unknown Source) at sun.plugin2.applet.Plugin2Manager$AppletExecutionRunnable.run(Unknown Source) at java.lang .Thread.run (Unknown Source) Ignored exception: ExitException[ 3]java.lang.SecurityException: Bad applet class name The envelope should load successfully despite this error message. Conditions: The error is only presented when Java debug logging is enabled, so it will not be seen in most environments. This error occurs with the envelope tools applet, which is only used for messages which contain attachments. The issue has been observed to occur in Microsoft Internet Explorer 10 with Java version 7 update 45, but may occur in other versions as well.
