Known Affected Releases
Symptom:High CPU condition and/or high number of IPv4 Unicast packets sent to CPU. PIM adjacency instability. Conditions:IPv4 unicast packets sent to CPU are traffic between First-Hop-Router(FHR) and RP, with IP protocol-type is PIM (103). This includes PIM-Registration (from FHR to RP) as well as PIM-Registration-Stop (from RP to FHR) As the above-mentioned unicast packets and PIM control-plane packets are classified under the same class in CoPP, with excessive unicast traffic there is higher chance for PIM control-plane packets to get dropped by CoPP hence resulting in PIM adjacency instability.
