Cisco Bug: CSCul88181 - stp-controller crash seen while rollback from pvrst to mstp
May 12, 2018
- Cisco ASR 9000 Series Aggregation Services Routers
Known Affected Releases
Basic description: When the stp_controller starts up and loads in PVRST configuration, it sets up an inconsistent set of flags in the database. This does not impact PVRST functionality, but means that if MSTP is configured subsequently, too many items are added to a message batch and the process exits abnormally. Symptom: stp_controller process abnormally terminates when configuration is rolled back from PVRST to MSTP. The process restarts without no other impact. Conditions: A system is booted with PVRST configuration or is configured for PVRST then the stp_controller process is restarted. This sets up the inconsistent internal state which then triggers the abnormal termination when PVRST config is removed and MSTP is configured.
