Description (partial)

Symptom:
The authoritative DNS server will respond with NOTAUTH when it responds with a CNAME for a non-CNAME query and it cannot follow the canonical name.

Conditions:
This happens when the canonical name specified in a CNAME record is not defined on the same name server and the query is not for a CNAME.
