Products (1)

  • Cisco Security Manager

Known Affected Releases

3.2(2) 3.3(1) 4.0(1) 4.1(0) 4.2(0) 4.3(0) 4.4(0) 4.5(0)SP0(1)

Description (partial)

Symptom:
The CSM User Guides, i.e.:
User Guide for Cisco Security Manager 3.2.2
User Guide for Cisco Security Manager 3.3.1
User Guide for Cisco Security Manager 4.0.1
User Guide for Cisco Security Manager 4.1
User Guide for Cisco Security Manager 4.2
User Guide for Cisco Security Manager 4.3
User Guide for Cisco Security Manager 4.4
User Guide for Cisco Security Manager 4.5

In the following section:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/security_management/cisco_security_manager/security_manager/4.4/user/guide/syspage.html#wp656586
Under the 'Object Group Parameters' -> ' Create Object Groups for Policy Objects (PIX, ASA, FWSM, IOS 12.4(20)T+) the following text should be modified:
'•Create Object Groups for Multiple Sources, Destinations or Services in a Rule—Whether to automatically create network objects, service objects, and identity user group objects to replace comma-separated values in a rule table cell that resulted when multiple rules were combined. The objects are created during deployment. For more information, see Combining Rules.'
and explictly state that CSM will create object-group with a name such us 'CSM_INLINE...'
Here is the recommended text that I propose:
'•Create Object Groups for Multiple Sources, Destinations or Services in a Rule—Whether to automatically create network objects, service objects, and identity user group objects to replace comma-separated values in a rule table cell that resulted when multiple rules were combined. The objects are created during deployment and are in the format of 'CSM_INLINE...' e.g. 'CSM_INLINE_src_rule_8589960758'. For more information, see Combining Rules.'

Conditions:
'Create Object-Groups for Multiple Sources, Destinations or Services in a Rule' has to be selected and a single rule has to have multiple objects
