Cisco Bug: CSCul69592 - ASA:Webvpn character encoding instructions unclear
Apr 16, 2020
- Cisco ASA 5500-X Series Firewalls
Known Affected Releases
Symptom: Using an invalid character encoding type. Currently, when we configure character-encoding under webvpn, we see: ASA(config-webvpn)# character-encoding ? webvpn mode commands/options: WORD < 41 char This is the character set (case insensitive) used to display WebVPN portal pages. Please refer to http://www.iana.org/assignments/character-sets for the official names of the character sets This is unclear and a lot of customers specify the encoding type to be "unicode", which is not valid. So, the information for this must be specific and must say: webvpn mode commands/options: WORD < 41 char This is the character set (case insensitive) used to display WebVPN portal pages. You can use either the NAME or the ALIAS of a character set listed at http://www.iana.org/assignments/character-sets. Example is "character-encoding utf-8". Conditions: ASA 9.0.2 onwards, with character-encoding configured.
