Cisco Bug: CSCul66671 - Umbrella DDTS for Voltage Alarm Issues

Last Modified

Apr 08, 2020

Products (1)

  • Cisco ASR 9000 Series Aggregation Services Routers

Known Affected Releases

4.3.2.BASE

Description (partial)

Symptom:
1--> VPVSENSE_CPUVCC or P1P2_SERDES_PLL_DAO sensors show the following voltage alarm message, with the measured voltage being slightly out of range:
%PLATFORM-ENVMON-4-CARD_VOLTAGE_ALARM : Voltage sensor alarm slot 0/RP0/CPU0, sensor VPVSENSE_CPUVCC measured 1037 mV and out of operational range 947 - 969 mV

2--> Voltage Alarms seen on RSP3 (RSP440) on some sensors especially VP7P0.
The following voltage syslogs will be observed during bootup.
%PLATFORM-ENVMON-4-CARD_VOLTAGE_ALARM : Voltage sensor alarm slot 1/RSP0/CPU0, sensor VP7P0 measured 6997 mV and out of operational range 3387 - 3614 mV

3-->Because of race conditions sometime the software ends up reading the wrong sensor.And following voltage syslogs are observed.
%PLATFORM-ENVMON-4-CARD_VOLTAGE_ALARM : Voltage sensor alarm slot 0/RSP0/CPU0, sensor VP1P2_SERDES_PLL_LGN measured 0 mV and out of operational range 1165 - 1235 mV
%PLATFORM-ENVMON-4-CARD_VOLTAGE_ALARM : Voltage sensor alarm slot 0/RSP0/CPU0, sensor VP1P0_SAC1_VDDD_VDDACM measured 6838 mV and out of operational range 971 - 1029 mV
%PLATFORM-ENVMON-4-CARD_VOLTAGE_ALARM : Voltage sensor alarm slot 0/RSP0/CPU0, sensor VP1P0_SAC0_VDDD_VDDACM measured 6350 mV and out of operational range 971 - 1029 mV
%PLATFORM-ENVMON-4-CARD_VOLTAGE_ALARM : Voltage sensor alarm slot 0/RSP0/CPU0, sensor VP0P75_TMX_VTT measured 1000 mV and out of operational range 728 - 772 mV
%PLATFORM-ENVMON-4-CARD_VOLTAGE_ALARM : Voltage sensor alarm slot 0/RSP0/CPU0, sensor VP3P3 measured 1199 mV and out of operational range 3193 - 3407 mV
%PLATFORM-ENVMON-4-CARD_VOLTAGE_ALARM : Voltage sensor alarm slot 0/RSP0/CPU0, sensor VP1P8_OCXO measured 7071 mV and out of operational range 1742 - 1858 mV

4-->Some voltage thresholds for typhoon LCs are too tight, and you will see "normal" voltage readings outside of the threshold, specifically the upper threshold.

Conditions:
1-->ASR-9900 system

2-->Seen during bootup and normal functioning as well.

3-->Seen during reload and switchover.

4-->This was seen in 4.2.1, but likely exists in many versions.
This was specifically seen on the LC type A9K-24x10GE-TR, for the following voltages:

VP1P0_N4_CORE
VP1P0_N3_CORE
VP1P0_N2_CORE
IBV_D
N0_CORE_DB
1.0_N1_CORE_DB
1.0_N5_CORE_DB
1.0_N6_CORE_DB
1.0_N7_CORE_DB
1.8_N67_IO_DB

The voltage thresholds were updated for various cards and some new sensors were also added as per the requirement.
