Cisco Bug: CSCul55645 - MATE mate_auth_init via MacOS terminal won't handle paste of password

Last Modified

Feb 09, 2017

Products (1)

  • Cisco MATE Collector

Known Affected Releases

5.4.1

Description (partial)

Symptom:
When ssh'ing in to a MATE Collector server (on Linux) from a MacOS terminal/iTerm application, or running this locally on MacOS, then running mate_auth_init from the shell, it's often convenient to cut/paste the passwords and SNMP community strings in to the mate_auth_init prompts. This approach however does not enter the correct copy/pasted password, it truncates the pasted password.

The workaround is to manually type the passwords, which is prone to errors in complex passwords. See attached text file for example.

Conditions:
MATE mate_auth_init command being executed on local or remote system from MacOS OS.
