Description (partial)

Symptom:
Currently there is no way we can remotely find out the ITL hash value on the phone. Even worse, if the phone has Setting button locked prior to phone firmware upgrade, and end up with a corrupted ITL file, we cannot unlock the Setting button and find out the ITL hash physically. The only solution now is to factory reset the phones.

This has caused lot of pains for customer when they upgraded a large number of phones and found out more than half of them had ended up with out synced ITL file, and could not be deleted because of the Setting button was locked prior to upgrade.

Because we cannot find out the ITL hash on the phone, we cannot proceed with the workaround mentioned in CSCts01319.

Also because the cluster has more than 20k phones across multiple sites, change "Prepare Cluster for Rollback to pre 8.0" setting is also not acceptable for customer because it will cause all the phone reset.


Conditions:

The customer has 7942. But we wish this enhancement can be implemented in all model of phones including 89XX and 99XX phones.
