Cisco Bug: CSCul38883 - MVPN: RPFID of core route and vrf route don't match

Last Modified

Nov 06, 2019

Products (1)

  • Cisco Carrier Routing System

Known Affected Releases

4.1.0.MCAST 5.2.0.BASE

Description (partial)

Symptom:
Traffic is dropped on Egress MVPN PE, due to RPF failure. The RPF interface is set correctly in MFIB as an MDT interface, but the RPF-ID on the (*,G) or (*,G/m) route is incorrect. The RPF-ID should match with the one programmed on the core PIM route or LSP Label, but that is not the case here.

Conditions:
With PIM Sparse mode, this issue can happen if there are RP-mappings learnt/installed for a /32 (IPv4) or /128 (IPv6) Group range. The active group ranges can be found in "show pim vrf <> [ipv4|ipv6] group-map".

The issue can also happen for (*,G/m) routes if Bidir RP mappings are present in an MVPN.
