Cisco Bug: CSCul33403 - Multiple Profile creations assigns pool identities in reverse order

Last Modified

Jan 28, 2017

Products (1)

  • Cisco Unified Computing System

Known Affected Releases

2.1(2a)A 2.1(3a)A

Description (partial)

Symptom:
if you were to create 10 service profile and assign them to a test pool starting at xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:00, the 10th service profile created would get the xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:00 MAC address, the 9th would receive xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:01 and so on...

This is the opposite behavior that should expected for a sequentially configured MAC address pool.

Conditions:
In release 2.1(2) and later 2.1(x) releases, when instantiating service profiles from a template, service profiles are created in reserved order like SPn, SPn-1, ... SP1. This caused the identities such as MAC addresses and WWPNs be allocated in that order thus give the wrong perception that the identity pools that are defined with sequential assignment do not work as expected.
