Cisco Bug: CSCul31400 - Call Failures due to leak in connection manager after redirection fails

Last Modified

Feb 25, 2019

Products (1)

  • Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CallManager)

Known Affected Releases

8.6(2.10000.30) 9.1(2.10000.1)

Description (partial)

Symptom:
Memory leak of media processes under CTI redirect error scenario causing sluggish CUCM behavior and unable to process calls after a certain time based on number of times this error scenario is hit. Memory leaked per call is around 21K.

Conditions:
Issue exists in CUCM 7.x, 8.x, 9.x 10.x. It is a remote scenario which causes a process leak for certain conditions where the redirection fails due to some error while the caller was originally the called side of a call.
One such scenario :
A calls B. B answers.
CTI Redirects A to C. B and C are connected. ( note that B is Side A of the call now )
CTI tries to redirect C to D but this redirection fails due to some configuration error (dial invalid DN)
Even though; redirection restore should happen (B and C should be connected); this does not happen and the media is not cleared. This causes memory leak of the media processes.
If redirect is successful , we will not hit this issue.
