Cisco Bug: CSCul27543 - Doc - IPS: Installation Guide 4345/4360 Back Panel NIC Info Incorrect

Last Modified

Products (1)

  • Cisco IPS 4200 Series Sensors

Known Affected Releases

7.1(1)E4 7.2(1)E4

Description (partial)

The IPS 7.1 and 7.2 Installation Guide (product documentation)s' IPS-4345 and IPS-4360 models 'Back Panel Features' sections both incorrectly state that the appliance models' 'Network interface ports' numbering (denoted in figures/tables by an encircled '4') is:

 "GigabitEthernet interfaces from right to left and top to bottom—GigabitEthernet 0/0, 0/1, 0/2, and 0/3 and Gigabitethernet 1/0, 1/1, 1/2, and 1/3."

Which physically equates to:

| 0/3 | 0/2 | 0/1 | 0/0 |
| 1/3 | 1/2 | 1/1 | 1/0 |

However, this is incorrect/inaccurate (and confusingly-stated with no numbering actually present in the included figures).

User referencing either the IPS 7.1 and/or 7.2 Installation Guide (product documentation) to determine which physical sensing interface maps to which logical interface name, likely in preparation of sensor appliance installation, re-configuration, or during troubleshooting:
