Cisco Bug: CSCul25081 - Need Critical Warning when IOMs become low on memory
Mar 29, 2017
- Cisco Unified Computing System
Known Affected Releases
Symptom: In some cases we see that the memory on the IOMs becomes very low and can cause the IOMs to reboot. This is generally due to a defect, but can cause the customer lots of issues. In some cases one IOM runs out of memory and has a cpu kernel crash, when it fails and the other IOM takes over the second IOM can also go into a reboot. If this happens we lose connectivity to the Chassis while the reboots happen. In other cases we see that upgrades do not work because of the lack of memory. Currently there is no way to see the amount of available memory in UCSM. And we have also seen that running "show platform software cmcctrl ohms all" on the IOMs can trigger a reboot if they are low on memory. It would be helpful to have this information in UCSM under the IOM's General tab or Statistics tab so that it can be viewed more easily. Conditions: IOMs run out of memory with no warning in UCSM.
