Cisco Bug: CSCul13809 - FCoE FKA fails while running FCOE traffic

Last Modified

Products (1)

  • Cisco MDS 9000 Series Multilayer Switches

Description (partial)

Symptom:FCoE control protocols can be impacted if there is congestion in FCoE data traffic flows passing through or originating/terminating on an MDS switch where FCoE is enabled. Control protocols can start throwing up errors and this can cause other issues such as vfc interfaces flapping.
Conditions:By default, MDS platforms that support FCoE (MDS 9250i or MDS 9700 with DS-X9848-480K9 linecard) are running with network-qos policy default-nq-7e-1q1q-policy. This issue is a known limitation with this policy. To verify the currently configured network-qos policy, use the following cli:

<pre>m9250i-1# show policy-map system type network-qos

  Type network-qos policy-maps
  ============================
  policy-map type network-qos default-nq-7e-1q1q-policy template 7e
    class type network-qos c-nq-7e-1q1q-drop
      match cos 0-2,4-7
      congestion-control tail-drop
      mtu 1500
    class type network-qos c-nq-7e-1q1q-ndrop-fcoe
      match cos 3
      match protocol fcoe
      pause
      mtu 2112</pre>
