Cisco Bug: CSCul08289 - Alishan: PS operational mode not changing to non-redundant when PS fail

Last Modified

Mar 17, 2016

Products (1)

  • Cisco MDS 9000 Series Multilayer Switches

Known Affected Releases

6.2(5)S29

Description (partial)

Regarding the display of redundant vs. combined mode of power supply,
using the command "show env power" :-
If PS are in parallel it is redundant, if PS are in series it is combined. In a director class switch,
when the mode is changed, then the series, parallel arrangement also changes.
However, in the M9250i, that is not the case. The PS would still remain in Parallel/Redundant mode.
The reason why minimum 2 PS are required is for 330 W power requirement (one PS gives 300W)

Hence the Mode is being shown as redundant.

Symptom:
When two PS are functional in Alishan and one is powered off the mode is shown as redundant.

Conditions:
When two PS are functional in Alishan and one is powered off the mode is shown as redundant.
Workaround(s):
To have redundancy all 3 PS should be functional
