Cisco Bug: CSCul07603 - MCU 4500/8500 uses different encryption control for H.323 calls vs SIP.
May 26, 2016
- Cisco TelePresence MCU 4500 Series
Known Affected Releases
Symptom: When Encryption is required in the MCU conference configuration and a SIP call is made from an EP to an MCU or vice versa, the call will be automatically disconnected if the MCU is configured for encryption and the conference config encryption setting is set to required, but the EP is not. With a H.323 call from an EP to an MCU or vice versa, the call will be connected if the MCU is configured for encryption, but the EP is not, HOWEVER both the audio and video protocols will be disabled and the EP will not be able to communicate in any way during the conference. Several customers have asked about this and feel that there is a difference in how H.323 calls are treated compared to SIP calls when encryption on the MCU is set to required. Conditions: When an MCU conference is configured for encryption required, H.323 calls are treated differently to SIP calls. SIP calls are disconnected immediately, however H.323 calls are allowed, but audio and video is rejected.
