- Cisco IOS
Known Affected Releases
Symptoms: An interface may not be able to properly trace its own IP address. Consider the following topology: UUT-(x.x.x.x)----serial----(x.x.x.y)-peer UUT sends a trace to x.x.x.x (itself) Expected behaviour ------------------ UUT#trace x.x.x.x Type escape sequence to abort. Tracing the route to x.x.x.x 1 x.x.x.y 16 msec 16 msec 16 msec 2 x.x.x.x 40 msec 32 msec * Incorrect behaviour (Symptom) ------------------------- UUT#trace x.x.x.x Type escape sequence to abort. Tracing the route to x.x.x.x 1 x.x.x.x 16 msec 16 msec * Conditions: This symptom is observed on a point-to-point interface (such as a serial interface, Packet-over-SONET [POS] interface, etc.) of a line card or port adapter that is installed in a Cisco router that is running a recent 12.0S image (more recent that 120-24.4.S). Tracing its own Serial (or other P2P address) IP address doesn't display the peer address anymore.
