Symptom: The battery is in a degraded state because it requires a manual (user initiated) relearn cycle. This is required of batteries that have been in use for over 1 year to accurately measure the battery's remaining capacity. Conditions: Design is that auto learns are transparent learns and manual learns are deep learns. Transparent learns have the advantage that cache policy remains WriteBack and hence better performance during learn period. In deep learns the cache policy becomes WriteThrough when battery charge drops below threshold level required for WB. Since deep learns do 100%discharge compared to transparent learns which do 37% discharge, the purpose of learn cycle is more accurate in deep learns. Hence to use the advantages of transparent learn we do it once in a month and to once in a year manual learn is requested which results in deep learn.
