Cisco Bug: CSCuj72168 - PE Active Directory Bind to use LDAP_AUTH_NEGOTIATE instead of SIMPLE
Feb 22, 2014
- Cisco TelePresence Management Suite (TMS)
Known Affected Releases
Symptom: This is a feature request to have the ability for Provisioning Extensions Active Directory user import to use LDAP_AUTH_NEGOTIATE binding instead of SIMPLE. The use of SIMPLE binds are a security risk as the credentials are passed of the wire in clear text. The use of LDAP_AUTH_NEGOTIATE also allows the binding to Active Directory GC/LDAP services using a user account of a trusted forest. Some customer may have complex Active Directory structures and trusts, and a change in the LDAP bind mechanism would allow for a simpler configuration for PE user imports. Conditions: LDAP Simple binds will fail when utilizing trusted forest user accounts.
