Cisco Bug: CSCuj66081 - ASA ENH VPN Double authentication avpair for ACS to notice the secondary

Last Modified

Dec 12, 2016

Products (1)

  • Cisco ASA 5500-X Series Firewalls

Known Affected Releases

9.1(3)

Description (partial)

Symptom:
When ASA is configured for secondary authentication for VPN access both primary and secondary servers can not point to the same ACS. It is not possible to have the following deployment:

1. for both primary and secondary authentication ASA points to ACS
2. for the first authentication ACS should use AD or LDAP
3. for the second authentication ACS should use RSA

Right now ACS can not differentiate 2 and 3 - both requests coming from ASA are identical.
Because of that ACS will apply the same rules and can use only one identity store for both requests.

That is why it is not possible to implement such deployment and we need to use a workaround and point to different AAA servers for first and secondary authentication (bypassing ACS which should integrate whole AAA)

Conditions:
Double authentication and integration of that on ACS/ISE.
