Description (partial)

Symptom:
Complete traffic loss on interfaces associated with one NPU.  Console messages like: 

npu_driver[303]: %L2-NPU-3-ERROR_MSG : *** NPU1: FATAL error at {line:2286}: failure in gif, rc=-1463657962, 'NPU Driver' detected the 'fatal' condition 'at hw lib layer: Internal object': Invalid argument 
npu_driver[303]: %L2-NPU-4-WARM_RESET_FAILED : NPU1: after hard reset, asic is still halted  : npu_driver : (PID=2109) :  -Traceback= 4126dc 42e0b2 7f6015d32d3e 7f6015d357d6 7f6003924855 7f600392492f 7f601b510c09 7f601b50e0f6 7f601b51c4b4 7f6003921560 7f60140cd9bc

Conditions:
This behavior is observed only after a serious error is detected by the packet forwarding firmware (microcode).  This is indicated by a console message such as the following:

npu_driver[303]: %PLATFORM-CIH-2-ASIC_ERROR_HARD_RESET : npu[1]: An ucode-err error has occurred causing  halt. cgi_csr32.cgi_setc_hier_int.cgi_csr32.cgi_pa_leaf_int.int_pa_int1

Such errors are rare.
