Cisco Bug: CSCuj35922 - system switchover fails with "auto-copy is in progress" message forever.

Last Modified

Sep 17, 2019

Products (1)

  • Cisco Nexus 9000 Series Switches

Known Affected Releases

6.2(2.270)

Description (partial)

Symptom:
When performing a "system switchover" on director class MDS supervisors (with dual supervisor cards), it errors with the following message:

switch# system switchover
Failed to switch over (auto-copy is in progress)

The following commands show there is no file being copied when the above message is printed:

switch# sh boot auto
Auto-copy feature is enabled

switch# sh boot auto list
No file currently being auto-copied

Conditions:
This is a rare condition and can happen if a previous attempt to copy to standby supervisor fails for a variety of reasons, eg not enough memory, disk space or if switch is under heavy CPU load and leaves the autocopy status variable in a wrong state.
