Cisco Bug: CSCuj24056 - ISR-G2 2900 Stays up/up on SM-D-ES2-16 reload

Last Modified

  • Cisco 2900 Series Integrated Services Routers

Known Affected Releases

15.1(4)M3

Description (partial)

Symptom:
When we peer between ISR-G2 2900 and another device through the embedded SM-D-ES2-48 we do not have any mechanism to deterch that the service module is being reloaded so we will stay in a up/up state on the ISR-G2 2900

When having a route or peering session through SM-D-ES2-48 we wont report any loss on the ISR-G2 2900 side because there is no mechanism to say we are rebooting and bring the port on ISR-G2 2900 down/down. Therefor black holing traffic till the service module comes back online.

We need to have a mechanism to communicate properly between the ISR and the SM to properly bring down the interface on the ISR when issuing the reboot.

Conditions:
ISR-G2 2900 with SM-D-ES2-48, peering between another device and the ISR-G2 2900.

Issue

service-module gigabitEthernet 1/0 reload

and we see the module reporting up/up

GigabitEthernet1/0 192.168.1.1 YES NVRAM up up
