Cisco Bug: CSCub15824 - LOGO_ACC is sent before FCNS data is updated

Last Modified

Mar 01, 2018

Products (1)

  • Cisco MDS 9000 Series Multilayer Switches

Known Affected Releases

5.2(1) 5.2(2a)

Description (partial)

Symptom:

LS_RJT happens on switch when moving a VM from one Partition to the other (IBM AIX). Eventually the move happens correctly.

Conditions:

In the case of IBM LPM, a Virtual Machine (VM), when moving to another partition will have the VIO (Virtual IO, a partition that handles IO for the different LPARs):
1. perform a LOGO first
2. then with the same WWN from the new location do a FLOGI or FDISC again.
This happens within 10ms to minimize downtime to the vm.

Since the update to 5.2(2a) by the customer, when receiving a LOGO_ACC, the FDISC happens and receives and LS_RJT as the entry is still in the FCNS, despite having performed a correct LOGO.
