Cisco Bug: CSCua86006 - In some scenarios multicast route prog exceeds configured max-limit

Last Modified

Aug 02, 2016

Products (1)

  • Cisco Nexus 5000 Series Switches

Known Affected Releases

5.2(1)N1(0.220) 5.2(1)N1(1)

Description (partial)

Symptom:
In L3 Version 2 cards ( N55-D160L3-V2 / N55-M160L3-V2 ), with multicast max route limit configured greater than 4096, multicast route programming may exceed the configured hardware limit in some cases when RPT to SPT switch over happens. These extra routes programmed above the configured limit take up free space from the unicast host route partition for IPv4 and/or IPv6.

Conditions:
This happens only on V2 L3 cards. This happens only when the configured hardware limit for multicast routes exceeds 4096 (using "hardware profile multicast max-limit <>" command). This condition happens only in particular scenarios.
