Cisco Bug: CSCtf33515 - Counter name issues in "show counters interface"
Sep 30, 2015
- Cisco Catalyst 6000 Series Switches
Known Affected Releases
Symptom: Counters such as "ifInDiscards" in "show counters interface" is not the same ifInDiscards value in IF-MIB (RFC1213/RFC1573) via SNMP. It only represents "input_drops". If one does an SNMP Walk of ifInDiscards in IF-MIB, it will show a different value which includes: ifInDiscards = counters.output_nobuffers + counters.input_drops + RP.input_drops And the corresponding CLI show commands are: "show int <interface> | inc no buffer" (for"output_nobuffers") and "show counter int <interface> | inc ifInDiscards" (for "input_drops") and "show int <interface> switching | inc RP" (for RP.input_drops) The "show int <interface> switching | inc RP" can also be the counter for Input queue "drops" in "show int <interface> | inc drops". Conditions: This affects all versions and many other counters in "show counters interface" may not be the same as the counters with the same names in IF-MIB.
