Cisco Bug: CSCtf28738 - DSP crashdump message 'writing out DSP dump to file' does not invoke EEM
Jan 31, 2017
- Cisco IOS
Known Affected Releases
12.4(15)T12 12.4(24)T2 15.0(1)M1.11 15.1(1.3)T
Symptom: ======== Consider the following Digital Signal Processor (DSP) crashdump utility configuration: ! voice dsp crash-dump file-limit 10 voice dsp crash-dump destination flash:dspcrashdump ! When a DSP crashes and the dspcrashdump file is written to flash: a message similar to the following is generated: 000336: Feb 26 20:09:13.357 EST: writing out DSP dump to file flash:dspcrashdump1 The following Embedded Event Manager (EEM) script is written to trigger off this message: ! event manager applet detectDSPcrashDump event syslog occurs 1 pattern ".*writing out DSP dump to file.*" action 1.0 syslog msg "DSP Crash Dump Event Detected!" ! It is found by direct observation that the EEM script however, NEVER sees the message generated by the DSP crashdump utility and hence never executes. Conditions: =========== This behaviour may be observed on any Cisco Voice GateWay which supports the DSP crashdump utility and the EEM feature. The problem was first discovered on 12.4(15)T12 and subsequently confirmed to also affect all current 15.0 and 15.1T release trains. It is suspected that all IOS releases are affected.
