Cisco Bug: CSCtf27303 - 6PE interop: Cisco router sends MP_UNREACH_NLRI in not negotiated SAFI

Last Modified

Feb 28, 2018

Products (1)

  • Cisco IOS

Known Affected Releases

12.2(33)SRE 12.2XN

Description (partial)

Symptom:
The router sends Multiprotocol Unreachable Network Layer Reachability Information (MP_UNREACH_NLRI) in non-negotiated AF IPv6 unicast.

Conditions:
This issue occurs when a BGP session is enabled for a 6PE (peer-enabled in AF IPv6 and end-label configured) with a third-party router, which does not advertise the IPv6 unicast (not AFI 2 SAFI 1, only AFI 2 SAFI 4) capability. Subsequently, the session may be ended right after establishing connection, as the router sends an update in the non-negotiated AF IPv6 unicast (AFI/SAFI 2/1).

Difference between address-family ipv6 and address-family ipv6 labeled unicast
Hello Experts, Can someone explain me the difference between address-family ipv6 and address-family ipv6 labeled unicast. Per my understanding, i think both of them are used to send labelled IPv6 prefix advertisements through BGP..If so, are the following configs same? address-family ipv6 neighbor 192.168.0.1 activate neighbor 192.168.0.1 send-label router bgp 10 neighbor 192.168.0.1 address-family ipv6 labelled unicast Please let me know if my understanding is correct Thanks Mukundh
